Ruth Towers to Give Piano Concert

Local resident and renowned pianist Ruth Towers will fill the library with The Everlasting Joy of Piano on Sunday, June 3rd at 3:30 PM! She will be performing a varied repertoire of classical masters, including Mozart, Debussy, Brahms, Paderewski and Chopin. This recital is free and open to the public.

Youth Stamp Club

Backyard Composting

Seneca County Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) is presenting a series of workshops designed to get you ready for a great gardening and preserving year! Thanks to generous support from the Friends of the Seneca Falls Library, these workshops will be offered free of charge at the library every 4th Thursday at 6:30 PM, March through September. Each workshop will be conducted by a SCCCE Master Gardener or Human Ecology staff member. All materials will be provided. Please register.

Children’s Book Festival

We’ll be celebrating children’s literature and young readers with a variety of activities at this year’s Children’s Book Festival on Saturday, May 19th at 10:00 AM, featuring the work of award-winning author/illustrator Suzanne Bloom. The event kicks off with Most Improved Reader Awards for children in grades K-5, nominated by their teachers for great strides in reading skills during the school year. MIRAs will be presented by Library Board President Gretchen Koch and Mark Benjamin, Community Relations Director at Seneca Meadows, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to the library and to local kids.

Suzanne will then read one of her books and tell “the story of the story.” By showing some very early work and a selected stack of do-overs, she will convince listeners that getting the idea is the easy part and turning it into an engaging tale is the hard part! Suzanne will be available to sign books following her presentation. Learn more about her books at www.suzannebloom.com.

Children will also have lots of chances to earn tickets by doing some fun and easy tasks, which can be used to enter drawings for themed Book Baskets donated by The Friends of the Seneca Falls Library. There will also be gently-used books to take home, crafts and activities.

Reading with Miss Martha

Everyone knows that dogs are the best listeners! Kids can practice reading with a lovable, furry friend on Tuesday, May 29th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Miss Martha is an experienced reading companion who loves to hear stories! We’ll be scheduling readers for 10-minute sessions. Please register.
